This was the article which announced most of the so called "V series" SNPs, that defined the sub-clades of E-M78, that had already been discussed previously in Cruciani et al. (2004). This subject was then further discussed in Cruciani et al. (2007).
The V series includes V12, V13, V19, V22, V27, and V32.
In Cruciani et al. (2004) there was also V6, and in Cruciani et al. (2007) there were V36 and V65.
Because V65 was not discovered until later, in this 2006 article there is still a "beta cluster" which is described as E-M78* and defined only by STR haplotypes.
