E-M521 is a Y chromosome haplogroup defined by the mutation M521. It is a sub-clade of [[{{{PARENT}}}]]. It's phylogenetic name according to the E haplogroup page on ISOGG's website is [[{{{PHYLONAME}}}]].

The discovery of this clade was announced in Battaglia et al. (2008) after a study of 1206 people from 17 population samples, mainly from Southeastern Europe.

M521 was found in two Greek individuals out of 92 tested, and appears to have been absent in two other individuals in that study who also initially appeared to be E-M78* in that study: 1 out of 55 Albanians, and 1 out of 64 Albanian speakers from the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
